The Presidential Roundtable on Local Government and Regional Development



The Roundtable on Local Government and Regional Development was formed on June 5, 2002. The role of the Roundtable is to be an advisory body to the President of the Republic.

The purpose of the Roundtable is to work out, in the course of exchange of ideas between local governments and representatives of different fields of life, recommendations for the President of the Republic concerning strategic directions of regional development and topical issues that need to be solved.

Experience of the Roundtable:

  • The activities carried out within the framework of the Roundtable have strengthened the ties between state power and local government level of society and their leaders.

  • The Roundtable has regarded the topics related to the development of local government within an open international cooperation dimension and through that has affirmed the understanding that the future Europe is a Europe of local governments.
