Your Excellency,
Mr Ambassador,
I am very pleased to welcome you as the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Estonia.
Having served you country in our region already before and having now the possibility to refresh your impressions and acquaintances from former times you certainly can take up a fruitful mission here.
The trade and cultural relations between Estonia and Egypt definitely need deepening and strengthening. Egypt with its old cultural heritage and immeasurably rich history has been an object of interest and research for numerous Estonians already in the past, and so is it nowadays too.
Egypt plays an outstanding political role in the Near East and among the Arab countries. Estonia values highly the constructive steps Egypt has taken to secure peace and stability in the Near East and in the northern part of Africa. At present, activities of this kind are of particular importance. The challenges of globalization and the threat of international terrorism require from the international community joint efforts, and I am confident that in this respect, the views of Estonia and Egypt coincide.
Mr Ambassador, the friendly and mutually interesting contacts between our countries hitherto permit me to count on a rapid and fruitful development of our relations in the future as well.
Please accept my heartfelt wishes for the success of your mission promoting the relations between our countries.
