President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Yiorgos Lillikas.

Foreign Minister Lillikas gave an overview of the current situation concerning the efforts to reunite the two Cypriot communities. In his words Cyprus hopes to join the euro zone in 2008, but that would also demand finding solutions to the questions that have been troubling Cyprus so far.

Both parties underlined the importance of economic ties, including the necessity to promote tourism in both countries. Foreign Minister Lillakas expressed hope that soon the contractual base necessary for economic relations between our two countries would be broadened and also direct contacts between business people would become stronger.
