The President of the Republic met with Chancellor of Justice and the leaders of Eesti Pank

On Tuesday, President Arnold Rüütel met at Kadriorg with Chancellor of Justice Allar Jõks, the President of Eesti Pank Andres Lipstok and the Chairman of the Board of Eesti Pank Mart Sõrg, and thanked them for their cooperation so far.

At the meeting with Chancellor of Justice, the cooperation during the outgoing president’s five years long term in office was assessed as being successful, and it was highlighted that the President and Chancellor of Justice had followed the same principles while protecting constitutional rights of people and guaranteeing separation of powers.

At the meeting with the leaders of Eesti Pank, the development of economy and banking in Estonia under the conditions of European Union was discussed. The President of the Republic was interested to find out about possible impact of the postponement of euro introduction and the future of Eesti Pank. In that connection, the Head of State stressed the importance of utilising the possibilities offered by the European Union to secure the preservation of the Estonian nation and culture.

Tuesday afternoon, the President of the Republic met also with the Director-General of the Estonian National Opera Paul Himma and the stage director Arne Mikk. President Rüütel is the patron of the Estonian National Opera.
