The President of the Republic met with the Foreign Minister of Serbia and Montenegro25.05.2006
 President Rüütel today at Kadriorg met with Foreign Minister of Serbia and Montenegro Vuk Drašković.
At the meeting, the Foreign Minister introduced the situation in his country, among other things, the action plan for further activities that would follow Montenegro's independence referendum, which was held on Sunday, and Serbia's position concerning the future of Kosovo district. Vuk Drašković asked for Estonia's assistance in strengthening the cooperation with European Union, including simplification of the visa regime for Serbian citizens and possibility of Serbian youths to acquire education in European universities.
In the words of Foreign Minister Drašković, there has been no ethnic tension between Serbians and Montenegrins, but a high level tension between Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo still prevails. ''I know about the tragic history of Estonia in the 20th century. Both Estonia and Serbia are the victims of the same Bolshevik ideology, repopulation process in Kosovo is the outcome of the same ideology,'' Drašković said.
The President of the Republic said that Estonia supports integration of Serbia into NATO as well as into the European Union. ''Europe, where both the Baltic and the Balkan states have managed to realise themselves and make their voice heard, can be an example for the whole world,'' President Rüütel said.
