The President of the Republic met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh

President Arnold Rüütel received M. Amir Hussain Sikder, Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, who presented his Letter of Credentials.President Arnold Rüütel, today, at Kadriorg, received M. Amir Hussain Sikder, Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, who presented his Letter of Credentials.

In the words of the President of the Republic, Estonia highly regards the aspirations of Bangladesh to develop good relations with the European Union, which was affirmed by the enforcement of the new EU-Bangladesh Cooperation Agreement on March 1, 2001.

''Nature has offered a lot to Bangladesh, but has also been very demanding of your people. Our sincere admiration belongs to the people of Bangladesh who have managed to create a functioning state amid beautiful but at the same time very harsh nature. The diversity and uniqueness of Bangladesh is a good basis on which to build our tourism contacts. It also provides an inexhaustible source of inspiration for creating deep cultural relations,'' President Rüütel said.

In the words of the Ambassador of Bangladesh, Estonian-Bangladesh relations have been growing steadily since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, but there exists vast scope of expansion of cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, especially in the trade and economic arenas. Ambassador M. Amir Hussain Sikder introduced his country's economic environment and invited Estonian entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh.
