The President of the Republic received the Order of the Jõgevamaa Coat of Arms

Jõgeva County Governor Aivar Kokk handed over to President Rüütel the highest award of Jõgeva County - the Order of Jõgevamaa Coat of Arms.Jõgeva County Governor Aivar Kokk, today at Kadriorg, handed over to President Rüütel the highest award of Jõgeva County - the Order of Jõgevamaa Coat of Arms.

Handing over the award, Jõgeva County Governor stressed the outstanding services of President Rüütel to Estonia and Jõgevamaa, and said that people of Jõgevamaa are always looking forward to the President's visits to the lands of Kalevipoeg.

In the words of President Rüütel, it is an honour for him to receive the Order of Jõgevamaa Coat of Arms. The President of the Republic added that he is always pleased to visit Jõgevamaa and is pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm of the people of Jõgevamaa, the abundance of their ideas and their wish to find new possibilities for advancing the local life.

The Order of Jõgevamaa Coat of Arms is the highest award of Jõgeva County and it is bestowed on individuals whose long-time work, activities and personal example have considerably contributed to the county's development. This year, besides the President of the Republic, also Academician Hans Küüts deserved the Order of Jõgevamaa Coat of Arms. The Order of Jõgevamaa Coat of Arms was handed out for the first time this year.
