The President of the Republic visited Tootsi and Soomaa

President Rüütel visited elementary school building in TootsiThe Presidential Couple in the Town of Tootsi was welcomed by the Acting County Governor of Pärnumaa, Toomas Kivimägi, the Chairman of the Council of the Rural Municipality Tootsi, Ain Käärt, and the Rural Municipality Mayor, Kaljo Ahman.

After having seen the Sports Centre and Swimming Pool of Tootsi, the President of the Republic visited the Basic School of Tootsi, where Headmaster Jüri Mets and forth-grader Andres Rosme, who had sent the President an invitation letter, welcomed him on behalf of the school's staff and children. After a cordial welcoming concert, the President was shown around the school, and a group photo with teachers and pupils was taken.

President Rüütel also visited Tootsi's nursery school "Sinilill" and elementary school building. Thereafter, the President of the Republic familiarized himself with the production of life vests at Betamar OÜ. At a meeting with the management of AS Tootsi Turvas, Director General Kai Mäeleht acquainted the President with the history and present of peat production at Tootsi.

At the Visitors Centre of the Soomaa National Park, the President was welcomed by Meelis Suurkask, Director of the National Park, and Tõnu Kiviloo, Mayor of the Rural Municipality Kõpu. The President familiarized himself with a handicraft house at a farm by the name Kõrtsi-Tõramaa and called at the Ingatsi Hiking Trail in the Moor of Kuresoo.

Thereafter, the President of the Republic and the First Lady visited the Johann Köler Farm Museum at Lubjassaare, where residents of the Rural Municipality Vastsemõisa and members of the Köhler family had gathered to welcome them. They talked together about how to improve local life and planted an oak tree at the farmyard.
