The President of the Republic visited Hellenurme

President Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel today opened the second block of South- Estonia Nursing Home at Hellenurme.

President Rüütel thanked all those who had contributed to the construction of the nursing home, and stressed that the nursing home was important not only for the local municipality and its residents but had much bigger meaning. “The people who stay in the nursing home have lived through very difficult times and now when they have reached their old age it is essential to offer them a life that is worth living. It is very important that supportive shoulder will be offered to every citizen of Estonia and that people will help each other,” the Head of State said.

Also managing director of the non-profit society “Hellenurme mõis” Vambola Sipelgas, members of the Riigikogu Rein Randver and Heimar Lenk, mayor of Palupera community Terje Kross and representatives of social welfare institutions spoke at the opening ceremony.

Following to the opening ceremony, President Rüütel planted a fir tree at the nursing home, acquainted himself with the new building and met with the residents of the nursing home.
