PRELIMINARY NOTICE: The President of the Republic to make a working visit to the United States of America

President Arnold Rüütel will leave on Tuesday, January 17, for a working visit to the United States of America. In the course of his visit, the Head of Estonian State will deliver two lectures, visit some Silicon Valley enterprises, meet with the Mayor of San Francisco, and local Estonian community.

On Wednesday, the President of the Republic will meet the Mayor of San Francisco Gavin Newsom, and will visit some Silicon Valley enterprises. In the evening of the same day, President Rüütel will meet with the investor Steve Jürvetson, who is of Estonian origin.

On Thursday, January 19, the Head of Estonian State will visit the Biotechnology Research Center of the University of California, will meet representatives of local Estonian community, and will deliver a lecture to the non-profit organisation World Affairs Council of Northern California.

On Friday, President Rüütel will meet with Dr. William Perry, Professor of the Stanford University and the former US Defence Secretary, and will deliver a lecture at the Stanford University Center for International Security and Cooperation.

Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the United States of America Jüri Luik, Estonian Defence Attaché to the United States of America Vello Loemaa, and Estonian Honorary Consul in California Jaak Treiman will accompany the President of the Republic on his visit.

President Rüütel will arrive back in Estonia late at night on January 21.
