The President of the Republic met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia

President President Arnold Rüütel received the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia, Rihards Muciņš, who presented his Letter of CredentialsPresident Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg received the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia, Rihards Muciņš who presented his Letter of Credentials.

At the meeting, the President of the Republic underlined the importance of Estonian-Latvian regional cooperation. "I am very pleased that the Latvian Embassy in Estonia has actively contributed to regional cooperation. I hope that during your term in office you will also attach attention to regional aspects, as there is still enough space for further development in the context of cooperation between North Latvia and South Estonia," President Rüütel said.

The Estonian Head of State expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the next regular meeting of Baltic presidents will take place in Tallinn the following week, and said that he was looking forward to the forthcoming state visit to Latvia in December this year with great interest.

In the words of the Ambassador of Latvia, since restoring their independence, Estonia and Latvia have achieved impressive results both domestically and internationally and that such success has generated increased stability and dynamics in the whole Northern Europe and beyond.
