The President of the Republic met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala06.10.2005
 President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg received Susana Barrios Beltranena, the first Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala to Estonia, who presented her Letter of Credentials.
The President of the Republic noted that as both Estonia and Guatemala are countries with rapidly developing economy, both sides are certainly interested in advancement of mutual trade relations. "One of the preconditions for that is development of contractual bases for trade. Travelling between our countries is visa free, and I believe that exchange of business delegations will help to get better knowledge of each other's economic life," President Rüütel said.
In the words of the Ambassador of Guatemala, she is in Estonia thanks to the desire of the Government of Guatemala to build up close friendship ties between the people of Estonia and Guatemala. Ambassador Beltranena added that Guatemala is proud of its history and it is a developing country, the people of Guatemala are descendants of the ancient Maya civilization famous for its astrologists and mathematicians.
The Ambassador of Guatemala resides in Stockholm.
