President Arnold Rüütel received the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary, Istvįn Mohįcsi, who presented his Letter of CredentialsPresident Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg received the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary, Istvįn Mohįcsi, who presented his Letter of Credentials.

"Talking about Hungary and Estonia I just have to refer to the fact that we are kindred peoples. The cooperation between the Finno-Ugric peoples is very close to my heart and I hope that with common efforts we can facilitate the preservation and development of the Finno-Ugric peoples and their cultures," the President of the Republic said. The head of Estonian state added that today Estonia and Hungary are bound together through international, close and trust-based network of relations that embrace various fields and are founded on common understanding, similar political features and economic interests.

President Rüütel noted that in 2004 Hungary became Estonia's biggest foreign trade partner among Central European countries. "Estonian business circles recognise Hungary's economic success and wish to intensify relations and exchange of experience. It is important to further promote the already existing contacts and to work towards the achievement of new common goals," the President of the Republic said.

Ambassador Mohįcsi said that thanks to linguistic kinship the relations between our states, peoples, institutions and individuals are not only without any problems but also very friendly. He added that hence the cultural cooperation between the two countries has been very smooth and it adds a new dimension to our dynamically developing political and economic relations.
