The President of the Republic met with the President of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly01.09.2005
 President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg met with Alcee L. Hastings, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and Spencer Oliver, Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Aldona Wos, Ambassador of the United States to Estonia, and Jaak Allik, Head of the Estonian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly participated at the meeting.
Alcee L. Hastings, who is also a member of the United States House of Representatives, spoke about the OSCE reform plans, which are meant to make the Organisation more transparent and efficient. He also asked for Estonia's support to the reform.
In the words of the President of the Republic, Estonia as an OSCE member is certainly interested in the reforming of the Organisation, and is ready to contribute to the success of that process. President Rüütel pointed out the significant role of the OSCE in conflicts prevention, which is becoming more and more important in the global context.
