The President of the Republic opened an art exhibition in Beijing

In the afternoon the Estonian head of the state returned to Beijing, where the well-known Estonian artist Valli Lember-Bogatkina opened her personal exhibition in the Jin Tai Art Museum. The President of the Republic of Estonia accorded recognition to the long-term and outstanding activities of our leading watercolour artist, expressing his hope that Chinese art lovers could get a deep impression from the works exhibited and develop a more serious interest towards Estonian nature and the tradition of song and dance festivals depicted in these watercolours.

President Rüütel met also with the Director of the Jin Tai Art Museum Professor Yuan Xikun and visited the exhibition of his works in the museum.

Tomorrow President Rüütel will continue his visit in Beijing and deliver a speech at the Memorial Conference of the 10th Anniversary of the Fourth World Congress on Women held in Beijing in 1995.The President of the Republic of Estonia will also visit the Forbidden City and make a tour of the technological company Qing Hua Tong Fang (NUCTECH). Tomorrow in the evening the head of the state will meet Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Wu Yi.

The President of the Republic of Estonia will end the state visit and return to Estonia on Tuesday, August 30.
