The President of the Republic gave recognition to the best home beautifiers
21.08.2005

The President of the Republic and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel were today in Karksi-Nuia where the Head of State gave recognition to the best home beautifiers. President Rüütel, being the patron of the Home Beautifying Movement, today, at noon, in the Karksi rural municipality's Community Center handed to the winners of the contest "Beautiful Estonian Home 2005" certificates of honour and symbolic keys made of copper.

In his greeting address, the President of the Republic said that a beautiful home means much more than nice tidy rooms and garden. "I see a beautiful Estonian home, first of all as a home of more than one generation," the Head of State stressed.

Receiving the award given to the most beautiful municipality of Viljandi County, Mayor of Viljandi Malle Vahtra spoke on behalf of the award recipients and said that the recognition would enhance the strength and wish to do more - the more we do beautifying our town, the more we see how much is needed to be done.

President of the Estonian Olympic Committee Mart Siimann presented the award of the best sports facility to Tartu Tähtvere Sports Park.

After that, the President of the Republic visited Rahumäe Cemetery in Karksi-Nuia, a winner of the Beautiful Home Contest 2003, where he laid a wreath to the "Birds of Soul" memorial stone.

The Estonian Home Beautifiers Association selected from amongst contestants: homes, social buildings, hamlets, rural municipalities and centers, the 86 most beautiful ones. This year's contest was already the eighth such contests, and 605 awards have been issued so far.

The Estonian Home Beautifying Movement is sponsored by Husqvarna and Vivacolor Eesti AS.
