The President of the Republic met with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka18.08.2005
 President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg received the Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Nagoorpitchai Sikkander who presented his Letter of Credentials.
The President of the Republic noted that Estonia, being a member state of the European Union, considered it important to develop smooth relations with Sri Lanka. "We see opportunities to do it through institutional support and establishing business contacts in order to enhance investments," the Head of State said.
Ambassador Nagoorpitchai Sikkander, on behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka thanked Estonia and Estonians for their support to Sri Lanka in liquidation of the consequences of the tsunami that raged in Southern Asia at the turn of the year.
