The President of the Republic congratulated Andrus Värnik10.08.2005
President Arnold Rüütel today, late at night, over the phone congratulated Andrus Värnik who had won for Estonia a gold medal in the Javelin Throw at the World Championship in Athletics in Helsinki.
The Head of State thanked the athlete for good competition and noted that such achievement would encourage young Estonians to go in for sports.
The Head of State congratulated the athlete on behalf of the people of Estonia and said that he would like to meet him as soon as he arrived back at home.
