The President of the Republic conveyed condolence on the occasion of the helicopter crash

President Arnold Rüütel today made a statement on the helicopter crash that happened near island of Naissaare.

"It was with deep sorrow and grief that I learned of the tragic accident in the Estonian airspace with a helicopter on board of which were twelve passengers from Estonia, Finland and the United States of America, and two crew members," the Head of State said.

The President extended his heartfelt condolence to the families of the crash victims.

President Rüütel held a telephone conversation with the Head of Finnish state, Tarja Halonen and extended through her his condolence to the families of Finnish citizens who were victims of the helicopter crash. President Halonen expressed her condolence to the families of Estonians who perished in the crash.

The Head of Estonian state had a conversation with the Ambassador of the United States of America, Aldona Wos, and expressed his condolence. Ambassador Wos extended her condolence and offered the help of her state in organizing the rescue work and investigating the reasons for the crash.
