The President of the Republic handed over the Young Artist Prize20.06.2005
 President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg handed over this year's Young Artist Prize issued by the President of the Republic's Cultural Foundation. This year the prize was awarded to a theatre director and actor, Jaanus Rohumaa who since 1991 has staged a number of specific plays.
The President of the Republic pointed out that in spite of his young age, Jaanus Rohumaa had achieved a lot and the list of plays staged by him was very impressive.
Accepting the prize, Jaanus Rohumaa said that the Young Artist Prize was an unexpected surprise for him, as he had forgotten that he was still young. He added that Estonia was one of the smallest nations having its own unique high- level culture, and he promised to continue his work in the field of culture.
 Since 1992 Jaanus Rohumaa works as a stage director in Tallinn City Theatre and as a teacher in the Higher Theatre School of Estonian Academy of Music, in Tallinn Pedagogical University and in Viljandi Culture Academy. The stage productions by Jaanus Rohumaa have been played on different stages during tours, and have participated in several international and domestic festivals. In 2004, the President of the Republic recognised the work of Jaanus Rohumaa conferring on him the 5th class Order of the White Star.
The Young Artist Prize, issued by the President of the Republic's Cultural Foundation is awarded to Estonian artists up to the age of 35 years, whose artistic achievements have been widely recognized, or whose artistic work and activities have considerably helped to make Estonia and its culture known in the world. The award amounting 50 000 kroons is issued annually and it is financed by Toomas Luman, Board Member of the President of the republic's Cultural Foundation.
