The President of the Republic continued his visit to Põlva County

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel today continued the visit to Põlva County.

The second day of the visit began in Kanepi rural municipality. The Head of State visited Kanepi Church and Kivi Farm in Närapää Village. On the farm of Malle and Andres Kelner four generations live together and the farm is engaged in breeding dairy cattle. The significance of infrastructure in the development of rural life was discussed.
The visit continued in Räpina Paper Factory, which is one of the oldest industrial enterprises in Estonia.

After that, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel visited the Museum of Local Lore and Horticulture and the Voluntary Education Society in Räpina. The President considered it very important that the Society offered possibilities of self-development to people of every age. That would facilitate the strengthening of intergenerational ties and love of one's homeplace.

In the afternoon President Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel visited Seto Farm Museum in Värska and Värska Sanatorium where they met with the members of the Association of Local Authorities of Põlva County. The main issues of the discussion were related to the problems of local government revenue basis, municipalisation of land and development of schools network.

The President and Mrs. Rüütel concluded the visit to Põlva County in Lobotka Village where at the village swings ground the possibilities of promoting village movement were discussed with local people.
