The President of the Republic met with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria

President Arnold Rüütel met with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Simeon Saxe-Coburg GothaPresident Arnold Rüütel today in Sofia, within the framework of his state visit, met with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Simeon Saxe-Coburg Gotha. The meeting addressed the Estonian-Bulgarian cooperation within the framework of NATO, and Bulgaria's aspirations towards the European Union, which President Rüütel acknowledged as successful so far. The Prime Minister of Bulgaria spoke about the parliamentary elections to be held in a month's time, where the Simeon II National Movement led by him was expected to win the elections again.

The President of the Republic today visited the National Museum of History in Sofia, where he acquainted himself with rich historical heritage of Bulgaria. After that the Head of Estonian state visited the Bojana Church, which has been entered in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List, and was built in 1259 and has unique frescos.

President Rüütel will visit today also Plovdiv and after that will return back to Estonia.
