PRELIMINARY NOTICE: The President of the Republic will go to the Summit of the Council of Europe

President Arnold Rüütel will leave on Sunday, May 15, to a working visit to the Republic of Poland to participate in the Third Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the Council of Europe in Warsaw. The Summit will take place on Monday, May 16 and on Tuesday, May 17.

Monday morning the first plenary session of the Summit "Unity - European values" will open in the Royal Castle in Warsaw, where also the Head of Estonian state will make a speech. After that President Rüütel will attend a lunch for the delegations hosted by the Prime Minister of Poland Marek Belka. In the afternoon, the second plenary session of the Summit "Challenges for the European Society" will be held. The day will end with a dinner for the heads of delegations hosted by the President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski. During the Summit, President Rüütel will have several bilateral meetings, including a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Jan Peter Balkenende.

During the visit, the representative of Estonia at the Council of Europe Alar Streiman and the Estonian Ambassador Aivo Orav will accompany the Head of state.

The President of the Republic will return back from his working visit on Tuesday, May 17.
