The President of the Republic visited Albu municipality

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel visited Albu municipality in Järva CountyPresident Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel today visited Albu municipality in Järva County.

The presidential couple visited Albu Basic School at the historical Albu Manor House where together with the pupils and teachers they attended an art history lesson. After a lunch at Toiduait and a visit to the local government of Albu municipality, a meeting with the local people took place in front of the building of the local government.

At the meeting, the President of the Republic said: "Our history is closely connected with our land, for centuries we have tilled and improved our fields as we are country folk by our roots. Only by preserving that land, we can have our future."

At the monument to Anton Hansen Tammesaare, President Rüütel explained to the people of Albu municipality why he had decided not to go to Moscow on that day, but to come and stay at the home place of Tammsaare. According to the head of state, he had made that decision, as he wanted to adhere to the same values that Tammsaare regarded as important: truth and justice. After that the President of the Republic answered the questions of the local people that mainly focused on the problems of rural life and survival of schools in the countryside.

At Ahula, President Rüütel visited a sewing enterprise OÜ Pakpoord that provides jobs for 30 people and exports most of its production. After that, the head of state acquainted himself with a new exposition of Anton Hansen Tammsaare Museum at Vargamäe in the village of Vetepere, and planted an oak tree to Järvamaa Grove of Culture. A group photograph was taken together with the laureates of the Cultural Prize of Järvamaa who also planted trees to the grove.
