The President of the Republic delivered a speech at the celebration of Europe Day
09.05.2005

The President of the Republic this morning delivered a speech at a festive flag raising ceremony on the occasion of Europe Day in front of the Presidential Palace at Kadriorg.

In his speech, President Rüütel said that both, today and yesterday are days of reconciliation, when we try to overcome the division lines left from the last big war and achieve better concordance between nations and people.

''Estonia is ready for a dialogue and wishes to have good and friendly relations with all nations. We have repeatedly expressed it and also today, on Europe Day, we stretch our hand of friendship to everyone who is ready to accept it. This is the best way to show our respect towards the victims of the war and to look forward to the future,'' the Head of state stressed.

The President of the Republic wished the whole of Europe that May of this year would be a time of shared hopes and setting of common goals.
