The President of the Republic met with trade union leader Harri Taliga
26.04.2005

President Rüütel today at Kadriorg met with the Chairman of the Board of the Confederation of Estonian Trade Unions Harri Taliga. It was noted that the role of trade unions in Estonian society has increased and gained a broader resonance, which facilitates the development of civil society.

The President of the Republic noted that the Estonian economy could not be built up on the import of foreign labour; it is necessary to focus on the enhancement of employment opportunities and modernisation of technology. Also on the training of needed specialists, and if necessary, on the retraining of existing workforce.
