PRELIMINARY NOTICE: The President of the Republic to make a visit to Finland31.03.2005
President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel will embark on Saturday, April 2, for a visit to the Republic of Finland. The visit will take place on an invitation of the Head of Finnish state Tarja Halonen and will, first of all, focus on the Estonian-Finnish cultural cooperation topics.
Saturday afternoon the President of the Republic will meet with the President of the Republic of Finland Tarja Halonen. After that, President Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel and Finnish President Tarja Halonen and Mr. Pentti Arajärvi will enjoy the concert performance of Tauno Pylkkanen's opera "Mare and her Son", which is a joint production of the Estonian National Opera and the Finnish National Opera. This Finnish composer's opera, which subject matter is pertaining to Estonia, is based on a play written by Aino Kallas and its plot takes place in Viljandi in 1343.
The Estonian Ambassador in Finland Matti Maasikas will accompany the Head of State. The President of the Republic will return back to Estonia on Sunday, April 3.
