The President of the Republic visited Single Guard Battalion

President Arnold Rüütel visited Single Guard BattalionPresident Rüütel today visited the Infantry Training Centre of Single Guard Battalion in Tallinn, where the commander of the battalion, Captain Rene Brus, gave the head of state an overview of the training centre's activities and tasks. Acting Commander of the Health Centre of the Defence Forces, Captain Mare Normak, introduced the Health Centre, and gave an overview of its activities in providing medical help to servicemen and organising training. Major Raivo Tamm, the head of the Logistic Department of the General Staff of the Defence Forces, made a presentation on the future perspectives of Männiku Training Centre. Major Tamm explained that in addition to Guard Battalion, also Tallinn Logistics Battalion would be transferred to Männiku, which would considerably improve the living and training conditions of conscripts in future.

After that, the head of state made a tour in the unit's barracks and on the territory, and visited the detention house of the Tallinn Garrison and the Health Centre.

During today's visit, the Commander of the Defence Forces, Vice Admiral Tarmo Kõuts, accompanied the President of the Republic.
