The President of the Republic met with the Minister of Agriculture12.01.2005
President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg met with Minister of Agriculture Ester Tuiksoo. The Minister gave the President of the Republic an overview of the use of the EU Structural Funds in the fishery and agriculture sector.
"The EU Structural Funds provide a good opportunity to modernize the agriculture and fishery sector in Estonia," the President of the Republic noted at the meeting.
President Rüütel emphasised a good perspective of developing pisciculture in Lake Peipsi and the Baltic Sea. "The EU Fisheries Policy gives new development opportunities to coastal people," the Head of State said.
Minister Tuiksoo acquainted the President of the Republic with the project "Estonian Food". The Head of State commended the work of the Ministry in that area. It was acknowledged that domestic food was healthy and it would be necessary to raise awareness among people about that and to improve the branding.
"We had a very pleasant meeting and I am satisfied that Mr. Rüütel is continuously interested in our sector," Minister Tuiksoo noted after the meeting.
