The President of the Republic handed over the Most Beautiful School of the Year 2004 Award17.12.2004
President Rüütel today presented the Basic School of Raudna the "Most Beautiful Estonian School Award 2004".
Handing over the award, President Rüütel expressed appreciation for the great work done by the pupils and teachers of the school and for the beautiful they had created. "Also the learning results are better in a beautifully decorated and well maintained schoolhouse. I believe that if we managed to keep our homes and schools in good order, we could talk of beautiful Estonia and our dreams would come true," the President of the Republic said.
President Rüütel presented the Basic School of Raudna a national style tapestry "Maritime Country" by Professor Anu Raud.
In the afternoon President Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel brought Christmas joy to Väikemõisa Children's Home. Director of the Children's Home Ilona Eesalu and County Governor of Viljandimaa Kalle Küttis acquainted the presidential couple with the problems and joys of the Children's Home, the children sang nice Christmas songs to the guests and talked eagerly about their everyday activities. The Head of State presented each child a soft teddy bear and wished everybody Merry Christmas and happiness in future.
