The President of the Republic handed over the Young Scientist Prize

President Rüütel presented the Cultural Foundation's Young Scientist Prize 2004 to Jaan RaikPresident Rüütel today at Kadriorg presented the Cultural Foundation's Young Scientist Prize 2004 to Jaan Raik. This year there were 17 nominees for the Young Scientist Prize.

Jaan Raik, PhD in technical sciences, is a senior researcher at the Tallinn Technical University, whose works in developing a theory of diagnostics of digital systems and analysis of test synthesis in creating algorithms have aroused interest in over 90 laboratories in more than 30 countries. Dr. Raik has written more than 100 various articles in such prestigious scientific publications as Kluwer Academic Publisher's Journal of Electronic Testing, and the others. His practical work in promoting Estonian industry and launching a science development centre is also significant.

Congratulating Dr. Jaan Raik, the President of the Republic thanked the young scientist for his substantial contribution to the development of scientific thought and wished him future success in his high potential scientific research work.

Dr. Raik noted that it was unthinkable to do such an extensive work alone and thanked his tutor Academician Ubar and the team of colleagues.
