The President of the Republic met with the Ambassador of Georgia

President Arnold Rüütel at Kadriorg received the credentials of the Ambassador of Georgia,  David AptsiauriPresident Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg received the credentials of the Ambassador of Georgia, David Aptsiauri.

According to the President of the Republic similar interests and goals connect the two states today and there is a reason to consider how to help create a better and safer future. "Georgia is in 2004 one of the priority states for Estonia in development cooperation. The cooperation occurs with Georgia between the Defense Ministries, recently there took place the training on the field of e-governing and in November there will take place trainings on European integration, environmental protection and finance for higher state public servants of Georgia," said President Rüütel.

Ambassador Aptsiauri thanked Estonia for the support of Georgia in developing democratic reforms, restoring territorial unity and preparing accession to the European Union and NATO.

Estonian Head of State mentioned that Estonia is interested in the promotion of bilateral economic relations and establishing close contacts between entrepreneurs and occupational associations. "Trade in goods between Estonia and Georgia has been modest so far but there is definitely room to develop economic relations," added President Rüütel.
