The President of the Republic left for a meeting of Baltic Presidents

President Arnold Rüütel today left for a working visit to the Republic of Lithuania to participate in the meeting of the three Baltic presidents tomorrow.

The traditional meeting of the three heads of Baltic States on Friday, November 26 is the first joint meeting after Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined the European Union and NATO. The meeting will cover a broad range of topics - trilateral cooperation of Baltic States and joint cooperation with the Nordic countries, as well as the EU Neighbourhood Policy and Baltic airspace policing issues. Also the topics discussed at the EU- Russia Summit today in The Hague might be taken up.

Following the meeting of the three presidents, a joint press conference will be held tomorrow at 12 a.m. in the conference room at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius. After that the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus will host a lunch in honour of the President of Estonia Arnold Rüütel and the President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga.

According to the programme for tomorrow, the Head of Estonian State will get acquainted with the Baltic Basketball League at Vilnius Siemens Arena and will give an interview to Lithuanian daily newspaper "Respublika". Friday evening President Rüütel will meet with Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Brazauskas.

The president of the Republic will return back to Estonia from his working visit late at night on Friday.
