The President of the Republic met with the Marshal of the Polish Sejm

President Rüütel met today at Kadriorg with the Marshal of the Polish Sejm Józef Oleksy and the delegation accompanying him.

At the meeting prospects for the future development of Estonian-Polish regional cooperation, which currently is realized within the framework of the Baltic Sea Council, were discussed. Marshal Oleksy introduced also the Polish proposal for the development of the EU Eastern Dimension.

The President of the Republic stressed the importance of infrastructure development for Central and Easter European countries and pointed out Via Baltica and Rail Balitica projects. The debate on the EU Constitution in Poland was also discussed. President Rüütel and Marshal Oleksy both shared an opinion that in the EU its citizens have the most important role.
