At the meeting, which was attended also by Andrus Ansip, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications, and Vahur Kraft, Governor of the Bank of Estonia the possibilities to enhance economic cooperation between Estonia and Kansai District were discussed.

Thereafter the Presidential couple visited the National Museum of Ethnology where folk culture from all over the world is being studied and exhibited. Professor Hiroshi Shoji and assistant Hiromi Komori speaking in the Estonian language introduced their collection and a study on Estonia, which is a fruit of many years lasting work.

President Rüütel and the accompanying delegation also visited the end of the 16th century Osaka Fortress and acquainted with its unique exposition.

The President of the Republic said that the concluded working visit was successful as after meeting with the Emperor of Japan, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister as well as with many influential business leaders, we have every reason to believe that the cooperation between Estonia and Japan both on international and bilateral level would become more intensified. "In Japan we experienced cordiality and hospitality and wish to cooperate in the field of economy as well as in many other fields", said President Rüütel.
