PRELIMINARY NOTICE:The President of the Republic to make an official working visit to Japan

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel on Saturday, October 30, at the invitation of the Government of Japan will embark on an official working visit to Japan.

During the visit, bilateral relations between Estonia and Japan will be discussed. Special attention will be paid to promoting our economic cooperation. On top of that, our cooperation in the framework of international organisations is going to be addressed.

While in Japan, the President of the Republic in Tokyo will meet with His Imperial Majesty Akihito and Empress Michiko, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura.

On Monday, November 1, the Estonian Head of State is scheduled to meet with Mr. Hajime Sasaki, Co-Chairman of Japanese Association of Business Organisations (Keidanren), who in this year's March chaired the Association's delegation on their visit to Estonia.

On Tuesday, November 2, the Estonian Head of State will visit Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd, which also owns the Panasonic brand. Thereafter, President Rüütel is going to open an Estonian business seminar organised in collaboration with Enterprise Estonia.

On Wednesday, November 3, the President of the Republic will visit Osaka and the National Museum of Ethnology situated there, and also meet the Chairman of Kansai Economic Federation (Kankeiren), Yoshihisa Akiyama.

Minister of Economy and Communications Andrus Ansip and President of the Bank of Estonia Vahur Kraft, and also a 22-member business delegation will accompany the Head of State on his visit.

The President of the Republic will arrive back in Estonia on Thursday, November 4.
