The President of the Republic met with Prime Minister
16.09.2004

President Arnold Rüütel today at Kadriorg met with Prime Minister Juhan Parts.

The Head of the Government informed the Head of State of a discussion at today's Cabinet meeting about how to perpetuate the memory of those fallen for the Estonian independence. Also Minister of Population and Ethnic Affairs Paul-Eric Rummo, tasked by the Prime Minister with coordinating the Government's relevant activities, took part in the meeting.

The Prime Minister also advised the Head of State of his intention to confer the same issue with the leaders of parliamentary parties tomorrow. The President of the Republic and Prime Minister Parts reaffirmed their conviction that the perpetuation of the memory of all those fallen for Estonia's freedom was a most important issue that had to be approached in concert considering the interests of future generations and refraining from any kind of inter-party and other controversies.

President Rüütel also informed the Prime Minister of what had been under discussion during his official visit to Denmark having ended yesterday.
