PRELIMINARY NOTICE: The President of the Republic to make an official visit to Denmark

President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel on Monday, September 13, will embark on an official visit to Denmark.

During the visit, Estonian-Danish relations both at the bilateral level and within EU and NATO cooperation framework will be discussed. Special attention will be paid to promoting economic cooperation. On top of that, environmental protection in the Baltic Sea region - how to preserve natural environment, protect marine areas and promote alternative energy - will be addressed.

On Tuesday, President Rüütel in Copenhagen is due to meet with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Speaker of the Folketing Christian Mejdahl. The President of the Republic also is going to speak at a business seminar at the Danish Chamber of Commerce and Industry and to call at the Middelgrunden Wind Farm.

Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and His Royal Highness Prince Consort Henrik will host a luncheon in honour of the President of the Republic and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel.

On Tuesday evening, President Rüütel together with the First Lady at the National Museum of Denmark will attend a concert by old music ensemble Hortus Musicus followed by a reception hold by Estonian Ambassador Taavi Toom in honour of the President of the Republic and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel.

On Wednesday, the Estonian Head of State is going to visit the City of Odense, where he will open a business seminar organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Odense-Fyn. Thereafter, President Rüütel will open the Estonian Honorary Consulate in Odense, the consular district of which covers the Island of Fyn and South Jutland. The President of the Republic in addition will meet the Mayor of Odense, Anker Boye, and visit the Lindø Shipyard, the biggest Danish investor in Estonia.

The official delegation accompanying the President of the Republic includes among others the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Denmark, Taavi Toom, along with his spouse, the Commander of the Defence Forces, Vice Admiral Tarmo Kõuts, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Priit Kolbre. The Head of State on his visit will be accompanied also by a 20-member business delegation headed by the President of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Toomas Luman.

The President of the Republic will arrive back in Estonia on Wednesday, September 15.
