The President of the Republic sent a message of condolences to the President of Russia
06.09.2004

President Arnold Rüütel in his message to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on behalf of the people of Estonia offered deep condolences to the families of the victims of the Beslan hostage crisis.

The message of condolences runs: "The people of Estonia are profoundly shocked by the Beslan hostage crisis. We must do our utmost to take precaution against such events and to resolve them as judiciously as possible in order to prevent loss of the most sacred thing - human life.

There is nothing that could relieve the pain of the families, relatives and friends of those who perished. The people of Estonia bow their heads in mourning remembering these hundreds of innocent people who were murdered by brutal terrorists.

I beg you to accept and to convey to the families of those killed and to the whole people of Russia my personal and the Estonian people's deepest condolences."
