The President of the Republic met the Ambassador of the United States of America02.09.2004
 President Rüütel today at Kadriorg received the credentials of US Ambassador Aldona Wos.
The President of the Republic thanked the United States of America for having supported Estonia's accession to the European Union and NATO. According to President Rüütel, for Estonia the USA was today a stronger ally than ever before and Estonia due to its NATO membership had become a stronger partner for the USA.
Ambassador Wos noted that thanks to Estonia's and America's shared values, such as commitment to democracy, respect for the law and embrace of the free market, she was starting her work here based on a relationship that was already excellent. Estonia's membership in the European Union and NATO brought new complexity, new meaning, and new opportunities to the relationship between the two countries, the Ambassador of the United States noted.
The Estonian Head of State wished Ambassador Wos strength and success in preserving and promoting friendship and cooperation between Estonia and the United States of America, and in maintaining and strengthening our allied relations.
