The President of the Republic congratulated Indrek Pertelson20.08.2004
President Rüütel congratulated by phone Indrek Pertelson who at the Athens Olympic Games today had won for Estonia a bronze medal.
The President of the Republic congratulated Pertelson having performed magnificently in the men's +100 kg Judo competition both on his medal win and the Day of Restoration of Independence, saying: "On today's holiday we can say that the Estonian state and people have every reason to look to future with hope. And undoubtedly are just athletes those who are to our whole nation an excellent example of how to hold in honour energetic attitudes, vitality and a healthy way of life. The fact that you have in addition to the medal taken at the Sidney Olympic Games won a second bronze demonstrates that you are still at the top of the world sport. With your consistent and purposeful activities, you are a great example to our youth."
