The President of the Republic acknowledged the most capable home decorators
15.08.2004

The President of the Republic and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel today were at Viluste, where the Head of State acknowledged this year's most capable home decorators.

President Rüütel, who is patron of the Home Decoration Movement, this afternoon at the Basic School of Viluste handed to the winners of the competition "Kaunis Kodu" (Beautiful Home) certificates of honour and symbolic keys made of copper.

The President in his address said: "If people and families care for their homes they also do any other kind of work with care and love. Helping these fine people we can make life in Estonia progress."

Anne Kokman speaking on behalf of the award recipients said that it was primarily care, love and time rather than money what it took to make a home beautiful.

President Rüütel on the occasion of the Year of the Estonian Flag presented the Estonian Home Decoration Association with a flag created by heraldry expert Priit Herodes.

The Estonian Home Decoration Association selected from amongst homes, social buildings, hamlets, rural municipalities and centres, which participated in the competition, 81 most beautiful ones. In the framework of the competition "Kaunis Kodu", that this year took place for the seventh time, 519 awards have been issued so far.

The Estonian Home Decoration Movement is sponsored by Husqvarna and Vivacolor Eesti AS.
