President Arnold Rüütel and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel on their county visit to Harjumaa today visited the Town Government of Paldiski, where they were welcomed by Mayor Kaupo Kallas and Chairman of the Town Council Jaan Mölder. The Chairman of the Town Council gave them an overview of the past, present and future of the town. The President of the Republic noted that Paldiski had extraordinarily good natural conditions for developing its ports and expressed his hope that the town would succeed in taking advantage of its good location.
President Rüütel and Mrs. Rüütel next visited a boat yard of the PLC Bell Boats and thereafter the Esko Farm in the Rural Municipality of Saku, where they familiarized themselves with cheese manufacturing.
From there, the President of the Republic and the First Lady proceeded to the Kindergarten School of Kajamaa, where they met with members of the Village Society of Kajamaa and the Association "Kodukant Harjumaa". The Headmistress of the School, Sirje Õruste, acquainted them with the history and present of the school and the activities of the Village Society of Kajamaa. Among the members of the Sports Club of Kajamaa there are two field archery world champions and the sports club presented President Rüütel with the arrows that had helped to win the world championship titles.
The President of the Republic said that the beautiful homes and good human environment seen during his today's visit had made on him a very good impression.
The President and Mrs. Rüütel today, on top of that, will visit the Village Centre and Farm Museum of Metsanurme.
