The President of the Republic visited Jõgevamaa

The President of the Republic visited the County of Jõgevamaa, where he opened a ploughing competition at TormaThe President of the Republic today visited the County of Jõgevamaa, where he opened a ploughing competition at Torma and visited an Estonian language camp at the Basic School of Maarja.

At Torma President Rüütel opened the Carl Robert Jakobson Ploughing Competition and watched a ploughing demonstration.

The President of the Republic at Torma also familiarized himself with a modern cattle house, and met with County Governor of Jõgevamaa Aivar Kokk, Mayor of the Municipality of Torma Riina Kull and other local government leaders of Jõgevamaa.

Thereafter, the President of the Republic headed for the Village of Maarja, where he together with the First Lady visited the Johannes Voldemar Veski Basic School of Maarja and an Estonian language camp that is taking place there. The camp's children performed a little concert before the President of the Republic and the First Lady demonstrating what they had learned at the camp. The President of the Republic met with the school's headmistress, Ms. Liidia Lobareva, the language camp's project manager, Ms. Merle Haosaar, and children studying at the camp, and was shown around the premises of the school. In memory of his visit, President Rüütel planted a pyramidal English oak in the schoolyard.
