The President of the Republic met the Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia17.06.2004
 President Rüütel today at Kadriorg received the credentials of Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia Newstead L. Zimba.
According to the President of the Republic, Estonia was well aware of Zambia's stable political climate and progress made in modernizing its economic life, and hoped Zambia to continue on the road of liberal market economy, by that serving as an example for other countries of the region.
Ambassador Zimba noted that Zambia was interested in establishing closer political and economic ties with Estonia, as well as in building with Estonia a strong economic and trade relationship, notably in the field of information technology, tourism and processing industries.
President Rüütel confirmed Estonia's interest in developing bilateral relations with Zambia, notably in the framework of the EU Country Strategy for Zambia 2001-2007.
