The President of the Republic met the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro

President Rüütel received credentials of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro, Igor JovovićPresident Rüütel today at Kadriorg received credentials of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro, Igor Jovović.

According to the President of the Republic, with regard to economic and trade ties as well as to cooperation in the field of culture, education and sports, there are plenty of possibilities of fostering relations between Estonia and Serbia and Montenegro. President Rüütel added that, for this purpose, it is necessary to create a contractual framework.

Ambassador Jovović recognised the great strides Estonia had made during the transition period and said: "What Estonia has accomplished is also an excellent example to Serbia and Montenegro." The Ambassador also added that he appreciated Estonia's contribution to safeguarding the stability in the region.

The President of the Republic contended that Estonia continues to support institutional and macroeconomic reforms in the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro, and is willing to offer knowledge based on its experience in future.
