The President of the Republic spoke at the 120th anniversary of the Estonian flag

The President of the Republic and Prime Minister Juhan Parts planted an oak tree in front of the church of OtepääPresident Arnold Rüütel attended a ceremony to mark the 120th anniversary of the Estonian flag at Otepää where, on 4 June 1884, the blue-black-white tricolour was consecrated for the first time as the flag of the Estonian Students Society.

The President of the Republic speaking after a festive service in front of the Church of Otepää told that the blue-black-white for us was inseparable from our Fatherland and independence. "It is primarily because of the future of our nation and our children that I call upon all my fellow countrymen to hoist with pride and gratitude our national flag - the most beautiful flag in the world," President Rüütel said.

Subsequent to the anniversary speeches, a group photo with members of the Estonian Students Society and other attendees was taken. Thereafter, the President of the Republic and Prime Minister Juhan Parts planted an oak tree in front of the church.
