The President of the Republic to make an official visit to Kazakhstan31.05.2004
President Arnold Rüütel on Tuesday, June 1, together with an official and a business delegation will embark on an official visit to Kazakhstan.
Tuesday evening, the Estonian Head of State is going to tour the City of Astana. On Wednesday, President Rüütel in Astana will meet with the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev.
Subsequent to a meeting between the official delegations, The Treaty between the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan Concerning Cooperation in Combating Organised Crime, Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and their Analogues, Terrorism and Other Crimes, and The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Cooperation in the Field of Culture and Humanities will be signed.
On Wednesday, President Rüütel on top of that will attend an Estonian-Kazakh business seminar, meet with Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Nurtay Abykaev, and visit the Eurasian National University named after L. Gumilev and the Presidential Cultural Centre of Kazakhstan. Wednesday evening, President Nazarbayev and Mrs. Nazarbayeva will host a state dinner in honour of the President of the Republic.
On Thursday, the Estonian Head of State is going to visit the City of Almaty, where he is scheduled to meet with Mayor Khrapunov, attend a business seminar and tour the city.
The official delegation accompanying the President of the Republic includes Minister of Internal Affairs Margus Leivo, Minister of Culture Urmas Paet, State Secretary Heiki Loot, Governor of Eesti Pank Vahur Kraft, County Governor of Harjumaa Orm Valtson and others. The President of the Republic will be accompanied also by a 35-member business delegation headed by President of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Toomas Luman.
