The President of the Republic congratulated mothers09.05.2004
 President Arnold Rüütel on the occasion of the Mother's Day today at the Concert Hall Estonia greeted the mothers of Estonia.
The President in his address to the mothers said: "Giving your love and care, you shape not only human beings but also citizens and, by that, our whole society. Who would know better than you how important in doing this is not only husband's support, but also well-designed national policies and attitudes prevalent in society. You are the very persons we should ask: what are the benefits for the state from valuing mother and family?"
The Head of State thanked mothers for their magnanimity, joie de vivre and love, and called on all our fellow countrymen for taking care of their families and not sparing efforts to make theirs homes cosier. The President of the Republic noted that we are a happy people since the Estonians in Europe can be proud of their fatherland, mother language and home.
The President and Mrs Ingrid Rüütel today at Kadriorg will host an afternoon coffee party for mothers of large families. A group photograph will be taken of the attendees.
Yesterday, the President and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel attended a Mother's Day Charity Concert at the Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital.
