The President of the Republic met the Prime Minister of Iceland

President Arnold Rüütel planted a tree in the Friendship GrovePresident Rüütel in Reykjavik met with Prime Minister of Iceland David Oddson. Their meeting addressed the Estonian-Icelandic fisheries cooperation from fishing to merchandising. They also exchanged information concerning the extension of the air policing system of NATO to the Baltic States, and Iceland's experience in regional policy and in exploitation of geothermal energy.

Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Meelis Atonen and the business delegation led by President of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Toomas Luman participated in an Estonian-Icelandic business seminar, where information about the business environment in the two countries and Nordic Countries' investments in Estonia was presented.

President Rüütel and President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson visited the Heidaber Sheep Farm and the site of Iceland's ancient Parliament at Thingvellir, and planted a tree in the Friendship Grove. In the afternoon, the Estonian Head of State also visited the Town of Hveragerd calling at a local horticultural college and meeting with representatives of the Town Government.

This evening, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Ingrid Rüütel are going to attend a concert by the Estonian Folk Music Ensemble Wirbel and hold a reception in honour President of Iceland Olafur Ragnar Grimsson and Mrs. Moussaieff at Gerdarsafni Art Museum.

The President of the Republic along with his entourage will arrive back in Estonia on Thursday afternoon.
